If you are expecting a resort, you will be disappointed, as we are a nature based eco retreat. We prefer to cater to nature-based travellers who appreciate the beauty of staying in a true eco retreat.

We have three very comfortable solar powered eco cabins with the most sensational ocean panorama in all of Tasmania, we are 700 metres above sea level on the historical St Patricks Head Private Nature Reserve voted best eco retreat in Tasmania.

The open plan cabins are timber-lined and appointed with a queen-size bed and fold-out double futon. There is a spacious en suite bathroom with Sheridan king-size bath towels. Cabins run on a 12-volt solar system and are fully self-contained. There is a pot-belly stove, dining suite and television. Prepare your own meals or enjoy the convenience of choosing a specialty dish from our inhouse menu, meals are prepared by the in-house chef and delivered to your cabin.The retreat is fully licensed and stocks a range of Tasmanian and Banrock Station wines.

Enjoy the free-roaming wildlife, encouraged by the owners who are wildlife rescuers. Feed local animals and appreciate the natural surroundings from your cabin. Centrally located between Freycinet National Park and the Bay of Fires, Rainbow Retreat is a well-positioned base to explore the east coast. Visit magnificent Wineglass Bay and walk the pristine beaches of the Bay of Fires.
